BOSTON - Opening up its Patriot League Tournament quest, the Boston University women's lacrosse team will head to Colgate for a rematch on Monday, May 3. Opening draw from Crown Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Terriers rallied for a 15-14 victory in their final game of the regular season last Saturday, April 24. Honoring its 10-member senior class prior to the game, the seniors carried the team, accounting for 18-of-21 points, led by a career-high 10 points from Emily Vervlied. Seeing action for the first time in a month, Arielle Hammer started in net and finished with a career-high 10 saves.

Vervlied was named the Patriot League Midfielder of the Week for the third team this season after setting new career highs in assists (6) and points (10) while reaching the 100-career point milestone versus Colgate. The senior is having a sensational senior campaign, holding team highs in (45), assists (23), ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (15).

The Patriot League expanded the championship field from four to six teams. Due to the expansion, the Terriers earned the No. 3 seed in the North Division and will play at No. 2 Colgate. Monday will mark the second straight quarterfinal matchup between BU and Colgate, as the two teams last contended in the 2019 tournament, where the Raiders eked out a 14-13 victory.

The Terriers are 6-6 all-time in the Patriot League Tournament, and are an even 1-1 vs. the Raiders, with each team taking road wins. Colgate's win in 2019 snapped a five-year semifinal appearance streak for the Terriers. Two of the last three matchups against the Raiders have been decided by one goal.

Colgate has dropped its last four games, three of which were road contests, to finish the regular season at 4-5 overall and 3-4 in conference action. The Raiders used a 19-6 advantage on the draw in the last matchup in Hamilton to pull away with a 14-9 decision vs. the Terriers in March.
