The Boston University women's soccer team will open its conference schedule on Saturday when the Terriers welcome Lafayette to Nickerson Field. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
This will be the front end of a Terrier soccer doubleheader, as the men will host Navy at 7:30 p.m.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Saturday's showdown will be the middle contest of a three-game homestand for BU.
- The Terriers defeated New Hampshire, 2-1, on Sunday thanks to a pair of goals from senior Jenna Oldham.
- Oldham currently leads the Terriers in assists (5) and points (9) and is one goal behind classmate Margaret Berry for the team lead in that category.
- Junior Gretchen Bennett and freshman Celia Braun continue to split time between the sticks, with Bennett making two saves in the first half of Sunday's win and Braun stopping three shots over the final 45 minutes.
- Junior Julianna Stureman provided the assist on Oldham's first goal.
- BU has struck first in each of its last three games, winning two of those contests.
ENTERING CONFERENCE PLAY
- The Terriers went 2-1-1 last year during a regular season that included only Patriot League contests, finishing first in the Patriot League North Division.
- BU has won four Patriot League tournament titles and two PL regular-season trophies.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU is 7-1-1 all-time against the Leopards, including a 1-1 draw at Lafayette last season.
- The Terriers' lone loss to Lafayette was a 2-1 road defeat in 2019.
- BU is a perfect 4-0-0 at home against Lafayette, having outscored the Leopards, 12-1, in those four fixtures.
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS
- After opening the season with four straight losses, Lafayette enters Saturday's contest having won two in a row, including a 1-0 home win over NJIT on Sunday.
- Melissa Lamanna has scored two of the Leopards' four goals this season.
- Katie Butler and reigning PL Rookie of the Week Gretchen Waechter have each notched one goal and one assist this season, with Butler assisting on Waechter's winner against NJIT.
- Natalie Neumann and Lindsay Dewar split time at goalkeeper for the first five games before Neumann played all 90 minutes in the win over NJIT.
- Dewar has allowed seven goals and made 15 saves while Neumann has given up just four goals and stopped 11 shots.
