Terriers to Trek to Rhode Island on Sunday

The Boston University women's soccer team will continue its season on Sunday when the Terriers trek to the Ocean State to face Rhode Island at 2 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU is making its first trip out of the state this season after playing three of its first five games at Nickerson Field.
  • The Terriers' two road games have been in nearby Brookline and Newton.
  • BU was held scoreless for the first time this season in a 3-0 home loss to Harvard on Thursday.
  • Senior Margaret Berry leads BU with six points thanks to a team-high three goals.
  • Senior Jenna Oldham is tops on the Terriers with four assists.
  • Freshman Celia Braun and junior Gretchen Bennett have split time in each of the first five games.
  • Bennett made three of her 11 saves against the Crimson during the second half on Thursday while Braun totaled two of her nine stops as the starter against Harvard.

SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND

  • The Rams dropped to 0-2-1 after a 3-1 loss at Brown on Thursday.
  • They opened the season with a 1-1 home draw against Providence before dropping a 1-0 home decision to Northeastern.
  • Junior Tali O'Leary scored the Rams' lone goal on Thursday while classmate Brooke Cavino found the back of the net against Providence.
  • Sophomore Faith Hutchins has played all 290:00 between the sticks for Rhode Island, making 11 total saves.
  • She recorded a season-high six stops in the season-opening draw with Providence.
SERIES HISTORY
  • BU is 8-2-0 against Rhode Island and has won five straight games against the Rams, including four in a row via shutout.
  • Sophia Woodland scored the lone goal in the last meeting between the two sides, a 1-0 Terrier win at Nickerson Field on Sept. 15, 2019.
