BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program raced three boats at the 57th Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday (Oct. 23), as the DeWolfe Boathouse once again served as the official starting line.
BU had two entries in the Lightweight Four event. The "A" crew, coxed by sophomore
Heather Shinn and stroked by classmate
Nina Palmer, clocked in at 18:25.415 to place sixth out of 12 crews, finishing just behind Harvard-Radcliffe by three seconds but ahead of MIT's two crews.
Meanwhile, the "B" boat, coxed by junior
Mayela Gaol and stroked by freshman
Caroline Burchette, finished ninth with a time of 18:50.137.
In the Lightweight Eights, the crew coxed by junior
Rayna Kuthiala and stroked by senior
Delaney Bernier were third with a time of 16:22.020, finish .567 seconds ahead of Georgetown's group.
Back on Saturday (Oct. 22), the Terriers had a boat in the Alumnae Eights race. BU's contingent captured 30th place out of 45 crews, finishing in a time of 18:41.759.
The Terriers conclude the fall portion of their 2022-23 schedule with the Foot of the Charles, scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 12).
