BOSTON – Beginning a span where four of its next five games are on the road, the Boston University women's basketball program heads up to New Hampshire on Sunday (Nov. 27). Opening tip is set for 1 p.m.
BU seeks its fourth-straight win, which last happened during a six-game win streak from Jan. 2-19, 2022. The Terriers' next three games are on the road, all in different states.
UNH, meanwhile, aims to snap its three-game losing streak. The Wildcats' last win came on Nov. 13 at Dartmouth. That is their lone Division I victory to this point. Three of UNH's next four games are at home.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU captured its third-consecutive victory in a 72-61 triumph over St. Francis Brooklyn at Case Gym on Wednesday (Nov. 23).
- Senior Sydney Johnson dropped a season-high 20 points, adding six assists with zero turnovers and tying her career-best with five steals.
- Junior Caitlin Weimar tallied her fourth double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
- Senior Maren Durant also chipped in 13 boards.
- The Terriers shot a season-high 52.9 percent from three-point range, with seven different Terriers drilling a shot beyond the arc.
- During its three-game win streak, BU is averaging 69.3 points, 45.3 rebounds, and just over 20 assists per game. The Terriers have outscored opponents 110-68 in the second half in that stretch.
- Weimar, the reigning Patriot League Player of the Week, has double-doubles in all three of those games, averaging 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game on 66.7 percent shooting.
- She is tied for fourth in Division I with her four double-doubles on the season. She also ranks 19th with 10.8 rebounds per game and 22nd with 2.4 blocks per contest.
- Senior Maggie Pina moved into 10th place all-time in career three-pointers in the win over the Terriers. She is four away from ninth place, and ranks 50th in Division I with a .476 three-point percentage.
- Elsewhere, BU is top-50 in the country in blocks per game (10th – 6.2), assists per game (41st – 17.2), and three-point percentage (44th – 36.6 percent).
- In total, the Terriers have notched an assist on 72.2 percent of their field goals.
- Averaging 42.2 rebounds per game, BU has eclipsed the 40-board mark in four of its five games. The Terriers' +7.2 rebounding margin tops the Patriot League.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
- UNH enters the contest with a 2-4 record, having lost three in a row.
- The Wildcats are most recently coming off a 75-57 setback at South Florida on Tuesday (Nov. 22).
- New Hampshire has played one common foe with BU so far in Northeastern, falling to the Huskies 63-51. UNH will later face Merrimack before starting America East play.
- Avery O'Connor leads three Wildcats in double figures with 14 points per game. Brooke Kane and Breezie Williams tally 11.2 and 10 points per game, respectively.
- UNH was projected to finish tied for seventh in the America East Preseason Poll after finishing 2021-22 with a 7-21 record, going 4-12 against conference foes.
THE SERIES
- Sunday marks the 77th all-time meeting between BU and New Hampshire in a series that began in 1978.
- The Terriers lead the series, 43-33. Previously, the two teams were rivals in the America East conference.
- BU has won three in a row, with an average margin of victory of 16 points. Prior to that streak, UNH was victorious in four straight matchups.
- The Terriers are 20-17 on the road against the Wildcats, having won eight of their last 10.
