BOSTON – Beginning a stretch of three straight road games, the Boston University women's lacrosse program heads down Comm. Ave to take on reigning national champion and current No. 1 Boston College this Saturday (Feb. 19). Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
The Terriers ignite their 2022 road slate after a home loss to Vermont in the season lidlifter. BU's next three opponents all competed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament; Fairfield and UMass won their respective conference titles, while BC made it in as an at-large.
Boston College enters the matchup atop the ILWomen/IWLCA National Poll after earning the spot in the preseason vote. The Eagles will host the Terriers in Fish Field House. - Also lighting the lamp for the first time was freshman Matty Spaeth, who scored BU's first goal of the year less than a minute into the game.
- Redshirt junior Teagan Lucchese recorded her first-career goal after spending the previous three seasons at Drexel.
- In net, Agres made her collegiate debut to make her first nine saves as a Terrier.
- Kaye and Reinertson became the first Terrier duo to have hat tricks in the season opener since Elisabeth Jayne and Avery Donahoe against No. 17 Boston College in 2017.
- The Terriers are facing the most ranked opponents this season (3) since 2018, when they played five different foes in the top 25.
- BU seeks its first win over a ranked opponent since an upset of No. 14/19 Navy back on Mar. 22, 2014.
- The Terriers have played the No. 1 team in the country twice in the last eight seasons. BU squared off against North Carolina in 2014, and opened the 2019 campaign against Boston College.
