BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team continues its Patriot League swing when it hosts Colgate this Saturday (Mar. 19). Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.

Saturday marks the fourth matchup between the Terriers and the Raiders in just under a calendar year. BU and Colgate are two of the top-11 teams in the country in draw control percentage, as both seek their first league wins in 2022.

The game represents Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day; free pizza and a gift are available at the marketing table. There is also free youth admission for children in eighth grade and below.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • The Terriers dropped a 13-7 home contest to Army West Point in the team's league lidlifter on Mar. 12.
  • Both teams scored three goals in the first quarter, but Army kept BU scoreless for over 25 minutes during the second half to build a gap.
  • Freshman Matty Spaeth matched her season-high with four goals, putting eight of her nine shots on goal.
  • Classmates Hannah Tillier and Kaylee Munster also scored, while sophomore Tobey Tick tallied her fifth goal of the year.
  • Sophomore Reilly Agres made 13 saves between the pipes.
  • For her performance, Spaeth was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the week of Mar. 14, becoming the first Terrier this season to win a weekly award.
  • Thirteen different Terriers have found the back of the net this season. Eight of those goal scorers are freshmen and sophomores, who have combined for 50.8 percent of BU's goals.
  • Junior Jennifer Barry remains second in the nation with 10.71 draw controls per game. She is three shy of her season-best (78 in 2021), and 16 from Jill Horka's single-season program record (91 in 2016).
  • Barry is also 24 draw controls away from her head coach, Lauren Morton, for fourth all-time in career draw controls at BU.
  • Agres ranks 27th in the nation with 63 saves and 30th with 2.71 ground balls per game.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
  • Colgate enters its Patriot League lidlifter with a 1-7 record.
  • The Raiders most recently dropped an 18-16 contest at Vanderbilt on Mar. 16.
  • Colgate's lone win came at St. Bonaventure on Feb. 26, a 16-6 triumph.
  • Saturday will mark the Raiders' sixth consecutive road game, a streak that began since the win over the Bonnies.
  • Colgate's .630 draw control percentage paces the Patriot League, and ranks fifth in Division I. Its 17 draw controls per game is 11th in the nation.
  • Sarah Harding leads the offense with 13 goals, and she and Kyra Lucey have 16 points each.
  • Last season, Colgate went 5-6, recording a 3-4 league record to advance to the PL Semifinals. The Raiders, like the Terriers, were picked to finish tied for fifth in the PL Preseason Poll.

THE SERIES
  • Saturday marks the 18th all-time meeting between BU and Army West Point in a series that started in 1982.
  • The Terriers have the 9-8 lead in the series, but the Raiders have won three of the last four matchups.
  • In 11 matchups since BU joined the Patriot League, Colgate sports a 6-5 record.
  • The programs played three times last season, including twice in the regular season. The Raiders won in Hamilton, N.Y. 14-9 on Mar. 21, but BU was victorious 15-14 on Apr. 24. Colgate broke the tie with a 15-13 triumph in the PL Quarterfinals on May 3.
  • Claire Gola, Lauren Kaye, and Tobey Tick had two goals each in those three games.
  • BU is 7-4 all-time at Nickerson Field against Colgate.
