TRUMBULL, Conn. – In a tightly-contested matchup that saw four singles matches go to three sets, the Boston University men's tennis team came out ahead with a 4-3 victory over Sacred Heart at the Tennis Club of Trumbull.
The Terriers (1-12) won a tiebreaker in doubles for the first point and then captured three singles points, including two in three-set thrillers, to defeat the Pioneers (3-11).
Freshman
Adrian Pawlowski and sophomore
Johann Sajonz teamed together for a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles. After SHU posted a 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot, sophomore
Jonah Dickson and freshman
Dion Loutas edged SHU, 7-6(3), for the early 1-0 advantage.
Dickson carried momentum from his doubles win to a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 2 singles. The Pioneers won in straight sets in the top slot and added two more points in three-set wins at lines 3 and 4.
BU though came out the victor, as freshman
Gabe Brown earn a 6-1, 6-7(5), 6-4 win at No. 5 and Sajonz rallied for the 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 6.
The Terriers will next visit Georgetown on Saturday (March 26) at 11 a.m.
