Terriers Win Eight Golds En Route to Pair of Third-Place Team Finishes at PL Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Boston University men's and women's track & field teams each placed third at the 2022 Patriot League Outdoor Championships, combining for eightt gold-medal performances over two days at the U.S. Naval Academy.
 
Senior Andrea Claeson was named the PL Women's Track Athlete of the Meet after claiming the 1,500- and 5,000-meter titles and was one of eight Terriers to earn all-league honors.

Sophomore Daisy Liljegren claimed the 10,000-meter title and crushed the facility record in the process. She followed that up with a third-place finish in the 5,000-meter race.
 
BU swept the 1,500-meter titles with junior Foster Malleck crossing the line first in the men's race on Saturday. Later in the day, senior Kasim Cisse (high jump) and sophomore UChenna Nwosu (110 hurdles) also claimed gold.
 
Senior Emma Montoya won the 400-meter hurdles title and freshman Kiana Lino took home gold in the shot put.

Graduate student Corinne Batsu had the Terriers' lone runner-up finish, coming in right behind Liljegren in the 10,000.'

The Terriers added six other podium appearances with bronze-medal performances by Liljegren (5,000), graduate student Madeline Bachmann (3,000 steeplechase), sophomore Jules Hogan (long jump) and freshmen Leon Christian (100), Cole Tucker (shot put) and Asia Hamilton (triple jump).

BU will return to action next weekend at the ECAC/IC4A Championships, which will be held on May 13-15 at William & Mary.
