After opening the 2022 season with a win over Providence on Friday, the Boston University field hockey team hits the road on Sunday (Aug. 28) when it visits New Hampshire for a 1 p.m. contest.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU was victorious in its season opener for the eighth straight year following Friday's 2-1 triumph over Providence
- Down 1-0 at the half, the Terriers got third-quarter goals from junior Tess Csejka and sophomore Payton Anderson to take the lead before the game was halted with 10:27 remaining in regulation due to lightning in the area.Â
- After a 3-hour, 22-minute delay, the teams returned to the field and the Terriers hung on for the victory.
- Junior Thalia Steenssens and seniors Mikayla Crowley and Ellie McIntyre each earned an assist on Friday.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
- The Wildcats also won their season opener, posting a 3-1 road win at Quinnipiac.Â
- UNH was picked fourth in the America East preseason poll and returns six starters from last year's squad, which posted a record of 7-12.
- Junior Lindsay Lee, a 2021 America East All-Second Team selection, is the team's leading returning scorer after tallying 17 points (4g, 9a) as a sophomore.Â
- Senior Jemma Woods returns for her fourth straight year as the Wildcats' starting goalkeeper.Â
- Freshman Tasmin Cookman recorded a goal and an assist in Friday's win over the Bobcats.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU holds a 25-18-3 advantage in its all-time series with UNH and has been victorious in the past six meetings.
- The rivals met at New Balance Field last season with the Terriers posting a 3-1 win.
