BOSTON – Seeking its first win over a ranked opponent in three years, the Boston University men's soccer team will visit No. 9 New Hampshire on Sunday evening with the ESPN+ broadcast set to begin at 5 p.m.

The Terriers opened their 74th season on Thursday by overcoming an early penalty kick conversion with a second-half goal to post a 1-1 draw at Albany, while the Wildcats dropped a 2-1 decision at No. 20 Maryland.

TERRIER TIDBITS

BU's last win over a ranked opponent came against then-No. 23 Navy in overtime at home in 2019. The Terriers' last road victory over a ranked team occurred in 2014 at then-No. 19 Dartmouth.
The Terriers opened a season with a draw for the first time since 2011.
Senior Quinn Matulis netted his fourth goal over his last three appearances dating back to last season with junior Andrew Rent earning the assist.
Senior Francesco Montali had two saves after Albany converted on a penalty kick during the 23rd minute.
The Great Danes had an 11-6 lead in shots and 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Terriers are trying to start a season unbeaten through two games since 2014.

SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE

The Wildcats have reached the last five NCAA tournaments and advanced to the round of 16 last season before finishing 17-2-2 with a 7-0-1 conference mark.
UNH is 43-2-7 all-time at Wildcat Stadium with a 109-19 advantage in goals scored.
The Wildcats led the NCAA with four of the 38 Division I players named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Preseason Watch List coming from their program.
Yannick Bright was a First Team All-American and America East Midfieder of the Year last season, while Jassem Koleilat ranked second nationally with a 0.427 goals against average alongside eight shutouts.
The Terrapins scored in the 14th and 75th minutes respectively before UNH found the back of the net in the 83rd minute. The teams finished tied in shots, 9-9.

SERIES HISTORY

BU leads the all-time series, 23-22-9, dating back to 1966.
The teams were in the America East together from 1988-2012 until the Terriers joined the Patriot League in the summer of 2013.
UNH is 6-1-0 over the last seven games with five contests being decided by one goal and three going to OT.
The Wildcats earned a 2-0 victory at BU last season after prevailing, 1-0, at home in 2019.
The Terriers last defeated UNH at home in 2011, 3-0, and last won on the road in 2008, 2-1.
