BOSTON – The Boston University women's soccer program begins a new month with a trip to Yale on Thursday (Sept. 1). Opening kick is tabbed for 7 p.m.

BU begins a stretch that will feature five road games in its next six matches. The Terriers have won their lone contest away from Boston this year, beating UMass Lowell back on Aug. 25. Yale, meanwhile, is in the midst of four consecutive home games to open the season.

TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU is coming off a 6-2 loss to #RV Michigan on Aug. 28, snapping a two-game winning streak.
  • Sophomore Morgan Fagan scored her first goal of the season 1:32 into the game on a pass from junior Abigail McNulty.
  • McNulty later capped the scoring in the 80th minute with her second goal of 2022.
  • Freshman Margy Porta collected her first collegiate point with an assist on McNulty's tally.
  • For the second-straight week, the Terriers garnered two conference weekly awards, as McNulty was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman Giulianna Gianino earned her second consecutive Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor.
  • That duo currently lead BU with two goals each, while McNulty's five points last week vault her in the team lead in that category.
  • In the first two weeks of the season, the Terriers lead the Patriot League with four weekly award winners. Gianino is the first Patriot League student-athlete to receive a weekly award multiple times this season.
  • Through four non-league games, the Terriers are averaging 12 shots per game. During last season's out-of-conference schedule, BU averaged 9.8 shots per match.
  • BU's 7.5 corner kicks per game are tied for the 28th-highest rate in Division I. The Terriers hold a 30-10 advantage over foes in corners so far.
  • Thursday will be one of two instances where BU travels outside the state of Massachusetts for a non-conference game. The other match will be at New Hampshire on Sept. 11.

SCOUTING YALE
  • The Bulldogs are 1-0-1 on the year, most recently defeating in-state rival Quinnipiac 4-1 on Aug. 28.
  • In its season opener, Yale played Hofstra to a scoreless tie.
  • Ellie Rappole's five points (two goals, one assist) paces the Bulldog offense, which has had six student-athletes record a point in the first two matches.
  • Maya Bellomo has played every minute between the posts so far, making nine saves while allowing the lone goal to the Bobcats.
  • Yale was predicted to finish tied for seventh in the Ivy League preseason poll after finishing 2021 with a 3-14 record.

SERIES HISTORY
  • Thursday marks the seventh all-time meeting between BU and Yale in a series that started in 1998.
  • The Terriers sport a 4-2 advantage in the rivalry, having won two in a row and four of the last five matchups.
  • This will be the third time both sides square off in back-to-back seasons, having last  done so in 2006 and 2007.
  • Last year, BU was victorious over Yale 1-0 at Nickerson Field on Oct. 5, 2021.
  • After Jenna Oldham's shot hit the post, Ashely Raphael buried the rebound in the 86th minute to seal the win.
  • Goalkeeper Gretchen Bennett made three saves in the win.
