BOSTON – Led by a strong defensive performance, the Boston University men's soccer team remained unbeaten at Nickerson Field with a 0-0 draw against Lafayette on Saturday night.
The Terriers (2-2-4, 0-1-1 PL) became just the second squad to shut out the Leopards (6-2-1, 1-0-1 PL) this season by holding Lafayette four shots below its season average and successfully defending against several dangerous long throw-ins from Will Echeverria. With the result, BU moved to 1-0-3 at home, marking the first time the program has opened a year unbeaten through the first four games since starting 6-0-2 in 2002.
Senior
Francesco Montali needed just one save for his fourth clean sheet of the year, as the Terriers posted a 12-7 advantage in shots and attempted all 11 corner kicks. Junior
Andrew Rent forced Alex Sutton to make one of his two saves while also nailing the crossbar late in the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED

- BU needed less than 30 seconds to start the second half before earning tis sixth corner kick.
- Lafayette blocked a shot attempt from sophomore Brian Hernandez to set up another corner, but senior Ryan Lee's shot went high.
- Rent nailed the crossbar at 82:03, and Hernandez sent the rebound shot into the side of the net.
- The Leopards earned a free kick outside their box in the 85th minute but was forced to take a tough long shot over the crossbar.
