Kyle Falkstrom and freshman
Tony Ponomarev set pool records on Saturday afternoon as the Boston University men's swimming & diving team visited Boston College at the Margot Connell Recreation Center. The Eagles came on on top at the dual by a score of 198.5-98.5.
Falkstrom set new pool marks in both the 100 (55.31) and 200 (2:00.73) yard breaststroke events while Ponomarev broke the record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:47:08).
Senior
Sarsen Whatmore took first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.07) and classmate
Ethan Thomas touched the wall first in the 100-yard freestyle (45.93). Ponomarev added a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (50.47) and junior
Justin Lee was runner-up in the 50-yard freestyle (20.74).
Sophomore
Dolan Grisbaum took third in both the 500- (4:35.12) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:28.11) and junior
Adrien Pierce was third in the 100-yard backstroke (50.69).
In the 50 free, freshman
Ben Cho was right behind Lee for third in a time of 20.93. Falkstrom was third in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in 1:52.02.
The 400-yard freestyle relay pool record was topped by both schools as BU finished second with Lee, Cho, junior
Jackson Olin and Thomas posting a 3:03.69.
BU will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 27, when it hosts Bryant for Senior Day. Meet time is set for 1:30 p.m.
