BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing team engages in its second of three-consecutive races on the Charles River, taking on Bates on Sunday (April 2).
BU comes off a spring opener where the Second Varsity 8, V4, and 3V/Novice 8 picked up wins against Boston College on March 25. The V8 finished second in its race.
Bates competes in its third spring race. On Saturday (April 1), all four Bobcat crews outsped Simmons' V8, with Bates' own Varsity 8 placing first in a time of 7:17.0. Back on March 25, Bates had three crews battle Columbia on a 1,500-meter course at Overpeck Park.
The Terriers and Bobcats faced off last season, with then No. 3 BU taking all three races by at least 15 seconds. The V8 posted a time of 6:51.2. BU has swept the previous two dual races against Bates.
Following Sunday's matchup, the Terriers take on Harvard and MIT in the Beanpot on Saturday (April 8).
