BU Faces No. 20 Navy at Home Saturday

BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse (6-6, 1-4 PL) team is prepped to host Patriot League foe No. 20 Navy on Saturday (April 8) at Nickerson Field. Opening draw against the Mids is set for noon.
 
During the Military Appreciation game, the team will host a clothing drive for the New England Center and Home for Veterans. Boxes will be set up at the marketing table near the fan entrance for t-shirts, coats, hats, sweatshirts, sweatpants, gloves, scarves, jeans, underwear, thermal long sleeves, shoes and boots. Everything donated must be new and unused and all sizes of clothing will be accepted. In addition, fans with a valid Military ID will receive free admission to the game.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • In its most recent game, BU dropped an 11-9 contest to UMass Lowell at home.
  • Eight Terriers scored in the loss and were led by senior Claire Gola who scored two.
  • Gola continues to lead BU with her 24 goals, 20 caused turnovers and 21 ground balls.
  • Senior Jennifer Barry is on a three-game points streak and has 35 points this season to lead BU in the category.
  • Barry also leads BU on the draw as she currently has 99 on the season. Her 338 career draw controls make her tenth-best of all active NCAA Division I women's lacrosse players.
  • Senior Lauren Kaye netted her 50th career goal in the game against UMass Lowell.
  • Junior Kendall Sims is currently on a four-game points streak and has scored at least one goal in each of BU's past three games.
  • When scoring first, the Terriers are 3-1. When their opponent scores first, they are 3-5.
  • Junior goalkeeper Reilly Agres made her 11th start of the season against UMass Lowell and made seven saves in the loss. She has 85 saves on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE MIDS
  • No. 20 Navy is 10-2 on the season and is 4-0 in Patriot League play.
  • The Mids' two losses came against then-No. 11 Duke in a 15-10 decision and Villanova in an 11-10 overtime result.
  • Navy is on an eight-game winning streak dating back to March 3.
  • Against ranked opponents, Navy is 2-1 with wins over then-No. 18 Richmond and then-No. 19 Jacksonville.
  • Navy is 5-2 on the road this season.
  • The 12 freshmen and 29 upperclassmen on the Mids' roster are led by head coach Cindy Timchal who is in her 16th season.
 
THE SERIES
  • BU trails in the series with Navy 2-7.
  • The Terriers last defeated the Mids in 2014 in a 13-12 result.
  • In the most recent meeting in 2022, BU lost to Navy on the road in a 16-6 decision.
  • The Terriers are 0-3 against Navy at home.
