Women's Ice Hockey Places 16 on Hockey East All-Academic Team

June 20, 2023

AMESBURY, Mass. - Sixteen members of the Boston University women's ice hockey team were named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The total of 16 was one shy of the program record of 17 set two years ago. Student-athletes needed to achieve a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two semesters that they competed in during the 2022-23 season to qualify. This was the ninth straight year that at least 10 Terriers earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Academic Team. In each of the last eight seasons, BU has earned at least 14 spots on the squad.

Nadia Mattivi and Brooke Ersoy secured Distinguished Scholar status after earning a 3.0 GPA in each semester over the past four seasons with the Terriers.

Graduate student Alex Allan and juniors Catherine Foulem and Lacey Martin received Hockey East All-Academic recognition for the third straight year while seniors Haylee Blinkhorn and Jesse DeVito and juniors Julia Shaunessy and Ani FitzGerald were honored for the second time in their careers. Sophomores Liv Haag and Maggie Hanzel received the honor for the second straight season while graduate student Andrea Brändli, senior Julia Nearis, sophomore Christina Vote and freshmen Allie Cuellar and Maeve Kelly were first-time honorees.
