BOSTON - The Boston University women's soccer team looks for its first Patriot League victory in 2023 as it hosts Colgate on Wednesday (Sept. 20). Opening kick from Nickerson Field is set for 6 p.m.
 
Coming off a loss against Loyola Maryland in the Patriot League season opener, BU (3-4-2, 0-1-0 PL) closes its four-game homestand, the longest stretch in Terrier Town this year. All three of BU's wins in 2023 have come at home.
 
Colgate is on the road against a league side for the first time after drawing Bucknell in its lidlifter on Sept. 16. The Raiders are 1-3-1 outside of Hamilton, N.Y. so far, being outscored 10-5.

TERRIER TIDBITS

• It its last match on Saturday (Sept. 16), BU fell 1-0 at home against Loyola Maryland.
• Giulianna Gianino and Natalie Godoy lead the Terriers in shots with four and three, respectively.
• Celia Braun enters the contest with a 0.745 save percentage and has played every game this season. She needs two more saves to set a new season-high, eclipsing the 36 she collected in 2021.
• Gianino continues to rank third in the Patriot League with 32 shots on the campaign.
• As a team, the Terriers pace the Patriot League with 4.56 corner kicks per game.
• BU's goal differential at Nickerson Field this year is 7-6.
• The Terriers have not lost consecutive home conference games since Oct. 19-23, 2019. Prior to that, the previous instance that occurred was 1996.

• Overall, Colgate is 1-6-2, having defeated Canisius 4-0 and drawing Kent State in its first two games on the season.
• Ari Bezanson leads the Raiders in points (six) and goals (three), the latter tied for sixth in the Patriot League.
• Alli Popham has started all nine games for Colgate, totaling a 1.76 goals-against average with a .634 save percentage.
• The Raiders were projected to finish seventh in the Patriot League Preseason Poll.
• Last season, Colgate was 3-4-2 in conference play, and seventh in the league. 

SERIES HISTORY

• Wednesday marks the 15th all-time meeting between BU and Colgate in a series that began in 1998.
• The Terriers have an all-time record of 9-4-1 against the Raiders.
• Colgate has won three in a row over BU, however, and four of the last five contests.
• BU has defeated Colgate at home just once across four home matchups since 2019.
• In last year's match, Emily Amano notched the game-winner in the 59th minute for a 1-0 Colgate victory on Sept. 21, 2022 in Hamilton.
