Weimar Collects PL Player Of The Week Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the second time in three weeks, Boston University senior forward Caitlin Weimar has been selected as the Patriot League Player of the Week, this time for the week of Jan. 8, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
 
Weimar has now captured the honor three times this season, matching her personal- and program-best (Patriot League era) from a year ago. Her three selections also lead the conference this season.
 
The Cortlandt Manor, N.Y. native led the Terriers with 19 points per game while leading the league in the opening week of conference play with 15.5 rebounds per contests in 74 total minutes. She also made over 48 percent of her shots while averaging 2.5 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game.
 
In BU's win over Navy on Jan. 3, she dropped team-highs of 19 points and 14 rebounds on 60 percent shooting. In the follow-up matchup at Lafayette on Jan. 6, she posted 19 points plus a season-high 17 boards, making nine free throws on 13 drawn fouls to guide BU to its fifth-straight win.
 
This season, Weimar is averaging career-bests of 18.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. She ranks top-five in the Patriot League in scoring (first among upperclassmen), rebounding (first), blocks per game (first), field goal percentage (second), minutes per game (third), and free throw percentage (fifth).
 
Across Division I, Weimar enters the week fourth with 8.2 defensive caroms per game, tied for ninth with nine double-doubles, and tied for 13th in rebounds per contest.
 
BU aims for its fourth-consecutive 3-0 start to Patriot League play when it visits American on Wednesday (Jan. 10). Opening tip is set for 11:30 a.m.
