WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Boston University field hockey team fell at American, 2-0, on Friday afternoon at the Jacobs Recreational Complex.
Agustina Roffo scored once in each half to help the Eagles remain undefeated atop the Patriot League standings.
BU, which got an eight-save effort from graduate student
Kate Thomason, moves to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in Patriot League play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- American was strong out of the gates and scored on the first corner of the game.
- The initial shot off the corner rang off the far post but Roffo pounced on the rebound as it made its way to the near side and slid the ball in for a 1-0 lead at the 7:24 mark.
- BU had the only corner of the second quarter and Thomason made four of her stops in that frame to keep it a one-goal game at the break.
- Just over two minutes into the second half, Emilia Winkler entered from the top of the circle and found Roffo on the right side, where she connected on a reverse-stick drive to the far corner that just got past the leg of Thomason to make it a 2-0 contest.
- The Terriers fought hard in the fourth quarter, owning a 4-0 edge in corners and a 5-2 advantage in shots, but were unable to get on the board.
GAME NOTES
- BU earned six corners while allowing four.
- American held a 10-3 advantage in shots on goal.
- Bryn Underwood earned three saves, including a diving stop on a late corner shot by senior Payton Anderson, to earn the shutout for American.

- Game time at New Balance Field is set for 1 p.m.
