BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team begins its home slate with a contest against New Hampshire on Wednesday. Opening draw at Nickerson Field is set for 4:30 p.m.
The Terriers are fresh off a 17-6 win at Merrimack and look to continue their unbeaten ways on home turf. Last season, BU started the season with a five-game winning streak.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU dominated in the game against Merrimack, scoring 17 goals, eight of which came on an unanswered run.
- Sophomore Elle Stevenson had a career game against Merrimack, scoring five goals and adding two assists to propel BU to the 17-6 win.
- Junior Hannah Tillier picked up where she left off in 2023, scoring three goals and adding an assist on Saturday.
- Junior transfer Raegan Bailey scored two goals in the season opener, one of which came on the free position.
- Freshman Tessa Geddes is the first rookie to find the back of the net this season as she scored a late goal on Saturday.
- Senior Ellen Monahan had a career day in ground balls, scooping up five as a part of BU's defense.
- Monahan also leads BU in caused turnovers with two.
- Senior Kendall Sims had a four-point game against the Warriors with two goals and two assists.
- Stevenson currently leads BU in goals, points and shot percentage.
- Sims and Stevenson are tied for most assists this season with two each.
- On the draw, sophomore Leah Hodgins is leading the Terriers with six to her name this season.
- Freshman netminder Natalie Aiosa earned her first win between the posts with 10 saves.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- New Hampshire is 1-0 thanks to a 19-8 win on the road at Marist.
- Eight different Wildcats scored against Marist, led by graduate student Katie Taranto with five of her own.
- The Wildcats ended the 2023 season 5-10 with wins against Merrimack, UMass Lowell, Columbia, Bryant and Central Connecticut State.
- Six freshmen and 23 upperclassmen make up the UNH roster.
- Head coach Kacie Lewis is in her third season at the helm.
THE SERIES
- This will be the 42nd meeting between BU and UNH with BU leading the series 27-15.
- UNH won the most recent meeting in 2022 in a 13-10 result at Nickerson Field.
- The last time BU defeated UNH was in 2019 with a 12-10 win on the road.
