HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Junior
Christy Chen earned her sixth straight top-five finish to push the Boston University women's golf team to a fifth-place showing in the Low Country Intercollegiate, which wrapped up on Sunday at Moss Creek Golf Club.
BU placed fifth among 16 teams with a score of 928 (312-313-303) and had the third-best score on Sunday. East Tennessee St. won the title with a score of 902.Â
Chen, who shot an even-par 72 in Saturday's middle round, posted a 2-over 74 on Sunday to finish at 224 (+8), which put in a tie for fourth, three shots behind the winner.
Freshman
Hibiki Adachi made a huge improvement on Sunday, shooting a 3-over 75 after posting scores of 82 and 85 in the first two rounds. Juniors
Meiqi Gao and
Victoria Takai each shot a 77 on Sunday while sophomore
Annika Manjunath carded an 83.
Gao finished just one shot out of the top 10, tying for 11th at 230 (+14) for her second top-20 effort of the season. Takai had her best finish of the season, tying for 21st at 232 (+16),
Adachi recorded a 242 (+26) to tie for 52nd and Manunath came in at 254 (+38) to place 80th.Â
The Terriers will return to action on March 25-26 when they compete in the Kingsmill Intercollegiate in Williamsburg, Virginia.
