BOSTON - The Boston University track & field team raced at the Raleigh Relays at NC State and competed at the UConn Dog Fight at UConn over the weekend. BU set eight Top-10 Terrier marks and recorded three performances that should qualify for NCAA East Regionals later this spring.
Top-10 Terriers - Raleigh Relays
- Sophomore Freddy Collins ran 13:45.41 over 5,000m to set the fourth-fastest mark in BU history and take first in his heat. He is the first person to run under 13:46 since 1986.
- Graduate student Foster Malleck finished his 5,000m in 13:48.80 which is the seventh-fastest mark in BU history.
- Senior Rob Hannon ran the 10th-fastest 10,000m time with a 29:38.12.
Top-10 Terriers - UConn Dog Fight
- Sophomore Ellie Roan threw the second-best mark in BU history in the hammer throw with a toss of 56.18m (184' 4").
- Senior Katherine George also set the eighth-best mark in the hammer throw with a 46.48m (152' 6") throw.
- Junior Asia Hamilton cleared 1.78m (5' 10") in the high jump to set the fourth-best height in BU history.
- Freshman Carly Sarisky reset her ninth-best BU mark in the javelin with a throw of 30.12m (98' 10").
- Freshman Abigail Wagner cleared 3.66m (12' 0") in the pole vault, good for third all-time at BU.
Top Performers - Raleigh Relays
- Senior Matt Mason ran 9:05.17 in the 3,000m steeplechase to place 39th.
- Sophomore Vera Sjöberg ran 16:05.44 in the 5,000m to place 22nd.
Top Performers - UConn Dog Fight
- Sophomore Caiden Lee took first in the 800m with a personal best time of 1:57.35.
- BU went 1-2 in the 3,000m steeplechase thanks to sophomores Glenn Bell (9:34.76) and Tucker Bowerfind (9:45.11).
- Junior Gabe Hickman threw a personal best mark of 44.60m (146' 4") in the discus to place ninth.
- Junior Cole Tucker threw 55.72m (182' 9") in the hammer throw to set a personal best and place fourth.
- Senior Stuart Bladon threw 51.42m (168' 8") in the javelin, a personal best.
- Freshman Abi Hahn made her Terrier debut in the 1,500m, running to a seventh-place finish in 4:49.13.
- Senior Emma Kowalski placed second in the discus with a throw of 46.46m (152' 5").
- Sophomore Ellie Roan led BU in the shot put with a throw of 13.23m (43' 5") to take third.
NCAA Watch
The Terriers have their sights set on the NCAA East Regionals which will be hosted at Kentucky in May. The following individuals have recorded marks that put them towards the top of their field in the NCAA. The top 40 performers in each region (east and west) qualify for regionals.
