BOSTON – Closing out the 2023-24 regular season, the Boston University women's basketball program heads to Colgate on Wednesday (Mar. 6). Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
BU (18-10, 10-7 PL) has secured a top-six seed and first-round bye ahead of the season finale. With a win, the Terriers would at least earn a share of its second-consecutive Patriot League regular season championship, and fifth conference regular season title in program history.
Colgate (16-12, 9-8 PL) is currently locked in a three-way tie for fourth place in the standings with Army West Point and Bucknell. The Raiders can earn any seed from first to seventh pending on outcomes throughout the Patriot League.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU defeated Holy Cross on Senior Day last Saturday (Mar. 2) at Case Gym.
- The Terriers overcame a 21-point, second-quarter deficit by shooting over 58 percent in the second half and ending the game on an 11-0 run.
- Senior Caitlin Weimar posted a game-high 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting, including the game-winning three-point play with 21.8 seconds left.
- Junior Alex Giannaros collected 18 points with a trio of three-pointers.
- In its program history, BU has never won back-to-back regular season championships.
- To receive the No. 1 seed, the Terriers need a win as well as a Holy Cross loss to Lafayette.
- With a loss, BU could still finish anywhere from second to sixth, pending outcomes throughout the league.
- Weimar captured her fourth Patriot League Player of the Week honor this season on Monday (Mar. 4) after averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 rebounds on 81 percent shooting in two games.
- The senior is seven points away from matching Kelly Jo Gallagher for 12th place in the Terrier record books in career points, and one field goal for sole possession of 10th place.
- Boosting her three-point percentage to 44.6 percent this season, Giannaros now ranks 10th in the country in the category.
- After leading the nation in three-point percentage last season, she is one of three student-athletes currently ranked in the top 10 after finishing last year in the top 10 as well, along with Gonzaga's Brynna Maxwell and Indiana's Yarden Garzon.
SCOUTING COLGATE
- The Raiders recently had their five-game winning streak snapped with a 55-47 setback at Lehigh on Mar. 2.
- Colgate began Patriot League play on a four-game winning streak, followed by a seven-game slide.
- At home, the Raiders are 9-5, winning their last two at Cotterell Court.
- During Patriot League play, Colgate is first in scoring defense (58.4 points allowed per game), field goal percentage (.449), three-point percentage (.403), opponent three-point percentage (.267), and assists per game (14.9).
- Taylor Golembiewski is the lone Raider averaging double figures this season at 12.4 points per game.
- In addition to Golembiewski's 12.3 against Patriot League foes, Tiasia McMillan (10.7), Alexa Brodie (10.6), and Morgan McMahon (10.2) also score double digits.
SERIES HISTORY
- Wednesday marks the 29th all-time meeting between BU and Colgate in a series that began in 1989.
- The Terriers sport a 19-9 edge in the rivalry, having won three in a row.
- BU is 10-5 all-time on the road against the Raiders, winning its last seven games. The last BU loss in Hamilton, N.Y. was on Jan. 18, 2017 in double overtime.
- In the first meeting on Jan. 20 in Boston, the Terriers captured a 73-66 decision.
- BU shot 52 percent from the field and made 19 of its 21 free throws. Weimar paced all players with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Giannaros (18 points), freshman Audrey Ericksen (career-high 17 points), and sophomore Anastasiia Semenova (10 points) also scored in double figures.
