BU Athletics Class of 2024

151st BU Commencement Includes 158 Student-Athletes

May 20, 2024

BOSTON – A total of 158 student-athletes participated in graduation ceremonies on Sunday as part of Boston University's 151st commencement exercises.

BU alum David Grann (GRS '94), whose book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI became an Oscar-nominated 2023 thriller, delivered the All-University commencement speech before 7,600 BU graduates and 20,000 total attendees Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field. The ceremony honored graduates from September 2023, January 2024, May 2024 and August 2024.

Following all of the festivities, student-athletes with friends and family gathered together at the BU Softball Field for a reception hosted by Director of Athletics Drew Marrochello

The seniors of the men's rowing and softball teams were unable to attend due to competing at Eastern Sprints and NCAA Regionals, respectively. However, the University hosted an intimate ceremony for those student-athletes and their families on Monday morning. Kenneth Freeman, President ad interim, joined Amie Grills, Associate Provost for Undergraduate Affairs, in delivering a meaningful message to those in attendance.
