Collins, Malleck Finish Season at NCAA East First Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Graduate student Foster Malleck and sophomore Freddy Collins wrapped up the men's slate at the NCAA East First Round at the Outdoor Track & Field Facility at the University of Kentucky on Friday.
 
Malleck first competed in the 1,500m, running 3:46.68 to finish eighth in his heat and 20th overall. He did not advance to the national championship in the event, bringing his illustrious collegiate career to a close. The Kitchener, Ont., native leaves BU with the second-fastest 1,500m (3:40.10) in school history, the seventh-fastest 5,000m (13:48.80) in school history and the indoor mile school record (3:55.80).
 
Collins made his regionals debut in the 5,000m. His time was 42nd overall and 23rd in his heat. The sophomore also did not advance to the national championship to end his sophomore season. Collins' best 5,000m this year came at the Raleigh Relays when he finished in 13:45.41, the fourth-fastest time in BU history.
 
The final day of the NCAA East First Round for BU will begin at 2 p.m. when junior Asia Hamilton competes in high jump. Sophomore Peace Omonzane will partake in the triple jump at 6 p.m. and fellow sophomore Vera Sjöberg will race the 5,000m at 8:10 p.m. Times are subject to change due to the weather.
