TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU traveled to Maine last weekend and dropped both contests, the first a 5-4 overtime loss on Friday and the second an 8-5 loss on Saturday.
- In Friday night's contest, BU got goals from sophomore Cole Hutson, freshman Ryder Ritchie, freshman Ben Merrill and sophomore Sascha Boumedienne, but could not get the job done as the Black Bears erased four BU leads to earn the win in overtime.
- Saturday was highlighted by a four-point game from Brandon Svoboda (2g, 2a), including a shorthanded goal.
- For Svoboda, his two assists and four points are career highs.
- Hutson recorded three assists in the loss.
- Other Terriers scoring goals were sophomore Kamil Bednarik, freshman Conrad Fondrk and freshman Ben Merrill.
- Bednarik's goal was also shorthanded, marking the first time the Terriers had scored two shorthanded goals in a game since the 2025 NCAA Toledo Regional Semifinal against Ohio State.
- Hutson was named the National Defender of the Month by the Hockey Commissioner's Association on Nov. 6, just a day after being named the Hockey East Defender of the Month on Nov. 5.
- Through nine games, Hutson has tallied 13 points, tied for the Hockey East lead and the most by a defenseman in the NCAA.
- Bednarik is one of six players to have notched two shorthanded goals so far this year after posting a shorthanded goal in Saturday, Nov. 1's game against Maine.
- He has scored four career goals as a Terrier, and three of them have been shorthanded.
- The Terriers have been one of the better teams in the country when it comes to special teams, ranking in the top quarter of teams on the power play (27.0%) and the penalty kill (86.8%) entering the weekend.
- The penalty kill has looked like a power kill at times, as BU has notched four shorthanded goals, good for second in the NCAA.
- BU and Merrimack have played 132 times since the first meeting on Dec. 11, 1964, and the Terriers hold a commanding 99-26-8 (.774) advantage.
- The Terriers recorded the first 14 shutouts in the series until the Warriors blanked BU for the first time ever during the 2018-19 season.
- The Terriers have won six of the past seven matchups between the two teams.
- BU has been fantastic against the Warriors at Agganis Arena, boasting a 26-5-2 (.818) record against Merrimack on Agganis Way.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
- The Warriors have started the season 3-3-0 and 2-2-0 in Hockey East.
- Last weekend, Merrimack traveled to Storrs, Connecticut and dropped a road contest to the UConn Huskies, 5-1.
- Sophomore Caden Cranston was the lone scorer for the Warriors in that matchup.
- Two Warriors, freshman Parker Lalonde and sophomore Trevor Hoskin, own the team lead in points this season with six.
- Lalonde was recently recognized as the runner-up for the Hockey East Rookie of the Month award after posting five goals and an assist in his first month in the NCAA.
- Head coach Scott Borek is in his eighth year at the helm of the Warriors' program.
- Junior goaltender Max Lundgren has taken all the work so far this year, starting all six contests for the Warriors.
- He owns a 2.18 GAA and a .933 save percentage.
