BOSTON – The Boston University women's lacrosse team begins its 2025 season on Saturday with an afternoon tilt against No. 1 Boston College. Opening draw against the Eagles is set for 12 p.m.
 
The Terriers, who started the 2024 season on a four-game winning streak, will look to upset the top-ranked defending champion Eagles on Sunday.
 
TERRIER TIDBITS
  • BU returns 22 student-athletes, 18 of whom made an appearance in 2024.
  • Of those 18 Terriers, 15 made at least one start.
  • Senior Avery Jones is the only returner who started 15 games last year.
  • The Terriers return the top five goalscorers from last year's squad, with Elle Stevenson (27 goals), Hannah Tillier (25), Abby Cotraro (21), Tessa Geddes (18) and Raegan Bailey (16) all on the roster for the 2025 season.
  • BU adds eight newcomers to the 2025 squad, seven of which are freshmen. Sophomore goalkeeper Zoe Inglis is the lone transfer after making nine appearances for Merrimack last year.
  • Graduate student Kendall Sims and seniors Avery Jones, Hannah Tillier and Abby Cotraro have been named team captains for 2024.
  • The Terriers open up with four straight home games in February, facing off with No. 1 Boston College, Sacred Heart, Stonehill and Fairfield to open the year.
 
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
  • Boston College is 1-0 overall after beating No. 10 Loyola Maryland, 21-7.
  • Last year, the Eagles rolled to the national championship game against No. 2 Northwestern and came away with a 14-13 win.
  • Nine freshmen and 23 upperclassmen make up the BC roster, including three graduate transfers.
  • Head coach Acacia Walker is in her 13th season at the helm - she has led the Eagles to two national championships during her tenure.
 
THE SERIES
  • This will be the 31st meeting between BU and BC in 43 seasons.
  • BU is 11-18-1 against BC and 9-9-1 at home.
  • The Terriers have lost 14 straight matchups to the Eagles, with the last BU win coming at BC in 2009.
  • Last year, BC beat BU 23-5 at Boston College.
