BOSTON — The Boston University women's lacrosse team treks to Lafayette for a clash with the Leopards on Saturday, March 22 at 12 p.m.
BU will look to earn its second conference win of the season over a Leopards team that is coming off a 15-4 loss to Holy Cross.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Terriers took down Bucknell in a close battle, pulling off a 10-8 win on Saturday, March 15.
- Tied 6-6 going into the final quarter of play, BU ripped off four straight goals to open up the lead to 10-6 with 5:38 left on the clock before holding off a late Bucknell surge.
- Junior Elle Stevenson notched a second half hat trick to drive the Terriers' offense.
- Junior Siri Hodgins led a strong defensive effort with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Sophomore Izabella Amonte has scored 19 goals this season and has 23 points, leading the team in both categories.
- Amonte and sophomore Tessa Geddes both have excelled on free positions. Geddes is averaging 1.00 free position goals per game, good for 18th in the NCAA and third in the Patriot League. Geddes also has the fourth-best free position percentage (.600) in the league. Amonte's .583 free position percentage is fifth in the PL and 49th in the NCAA.
- In net, sophomore goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa earned Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week after posting a 24-save week and a .600 save percentage in her past two games. It was her second weekly honor this season.
- She has been stuffing the stat sheet – she is second in the Patriot League in save percentage (.511) and leads the PL in saves per game (10.13). In the NCAA rankings, Aiosa is 15th in save percentage and 13th in saves per game.
- Junior defender Siri Hodgins earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after posting five caused turnovers and five ground balls in a two-win week for BU. She helped the BU back line hold off UNH and Bucknell, as the Terriers allowed just eight goals in each game.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Barton has been a force on the draw this season, grabbing 49 this year. She is eighth in the PL in draw controls per game (5.44).
SCOUTING THE LEOPARDS
- The Leopards have started off their 2025 campaign with a 4-4 record. They lost their lone Patriot League game, 15-4, to Holy Cross in Worcester.
- Lafayette has been outscored this season by an average of over one goal per game. The Leopards are third in the conference in scoring defense, allowing 10.75 goals per game, and have picked up 17.88 ground balls per game, third in the conference.
- Senior Sophia Spallone has led them in scoring with 15 goals and is just one of two Leopards with 10+ goals. She has four goals in the past two games.
- In net, senior Molly Terraciano has started all eight contests and made 62 saves. She ranks seventh in the conference in save percentage (.431).
THE SERIES
- BU is 8-3 against the Leopards all time, but Lafayette has won the past three matchups.
- Last season, BU fell 10-9 in double overtime to the Leopards at Nickerson Field.
- Hannah Tillier scored four goals on seven shots and Tessa Geddes added two goals and an assist in the effort.
