BOSTON — With just two regular season games remaining, the Boston University women's lacrosse team will play the American Eagles on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Jacobs Athletic Complex.
The Terriers (7-7, 2-5 PL) are in a four-way tie for the all-important sixth spot in the Patriot League. Remaining in the top six will qualify the Terriers for the quarterfinals of the Patriot League tournament. The Eagles (5-9, 1-1) are 10th in the conference, but have played close matchups with top teams like Army West Point, whom they only lost to by three goals earlier this season.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Terriers came up short against Colgate, 14-10, on the road Wednesday, April 16.
- Down by five in the second quarter, the Terriers whittled the deficit down to just one in the fourth, but the Raiders held strong defensively and pulled away with a win.
- Junior Jayne Feeney led all BU scorers with three goals as six Terriers recorded tallies.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- Sophomore Izabella Amonte has scored 32 goals this season and has 37 points, leading the team in both categories.
- With her four goals against Lafayette earlier this year, Amonte became the first Terrier to score 20-plus goals in her first 10 career games since 2012, when Mallory Collins had 31 in her first 10 games.
- In net, sophomore Natalie Aiosa has been stuffing the stat sheet – she is second in the Patriot League in saves per game (.9.71) and third in saves percentage (.458). In the NCAA rankings, Aiosa is 33rd in save percentage and 20th in saves per game.
- Junior Elle Stevenson is second on the team in goals with 26 and has 33 points, beating her career-best points mark of 31 that she set in 2024.
- Senior Hannah Tillier sits just one point away from 100 career points.
- Freshman Kaitlyn Barton has been the Terriers' draw specialist this season, grabbing 56 this year. She is 10th in the PL in draw controls per game (4.00).
- Graduate student Kendall Sims has shown off her true midfield presence in her final year, leading BU in ground balls (35) while scoring 14 goals, causing nine turnovers and collecting 24 draw controls.
- Sims is third in the PL in ground balls per game (2.69) entering the weekend and is 27th in the country.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
- The Eagles have won just one Patriot League game this season, but have battled closely with Bucknell, Lafayette and then-No. 25 Army.
- The Eagles are seventh in the PL in scoring offense (11.21 goals/game), but have the worst scoring defense in the league, allowing 13.21 goals per game.
- Reagan Murdoch leads the team in goals with 35, ranking 10th in the league.
- American relies on draw specialist Maddy Spratt to win them possession, as she picks up 5.21 draws per game.
- Goalkeeper Caleigh Forti has made 10.29 saves per game this season, the most in the PL.
THE SERIES
- BU is 7-2 against the Eagles all-time and 4-0 on the road.
- The Terriers dropped last season's game in overtime, 11-12 and have lost two of the past three games with the Eagles.
- Alex Cutone, Raegan Bailey, Abby Cotraro and Hannah Tillier all scored twice for BU in the loss.
