Team Talks
Team talks are designed to provide interactive education tailored to the nutritional demands of each sport. Topics include building a nutrition foundation, nutrient timing, recovery, hydration, travel nutrition, bone health and supplement safety. Custom talks are also available.

Workshops
Sports nutrition workshops are interactive, small group seminars tailored for each sport.
  • Workshop 1: Athletes learn how to estimate their own unique energy needs and use meal planning tools to customize meals and snacks that maximize their performance.
  • Workshop 2: Athletes use the knowledge gained in Workshop 1 to build meals and snacks around their own practice and class schedule.
  • Workshop 3: Athletes learn how to balance their nutrition goals and their favorite foods to maximize performance and satisfaction.

Grocery Store Tour
A guided tour (60 minutes) of the local supermarket with nutrition topics that include creating a budget-friendly shopping list, building dorm- and apartment-friendly meals, reading and interpreting food labels and claims, and evaluating cost versus convenience.

Dining Hall Tour
A guided tour (30-60 minutes) of the West Campus dining hall that includes an orientation to the different stations, a review of the components of a balanced meal, how to create unique meals based on personal preference, who to ask for help and how to navigate allergies or intolerances, as well as an overview of “Rhetty-to-go” meals and how to order.

Fueling Station Tour
A tour of the Terrier Fueling Station (15-30 minutes) that includes when and how to use the fueling station, the role of pre- and post-workout snacks, an overview of fueling station products including items that are dairy-free or allergy-free, and a review of our allergy protocols and other nutrition resources available.

PDP Classes
One-credit, participation-based classes offered through FitRec and taught by SCNC registered dietitians.
  • Healthy Cooking on a Budget (PDP NT 104): offered Tuesday and Thursday fro 11-12:15 p.m. and 12:30-1:45 p.m.
If healthy eating was simple, affordable and delicious, everyone would do it! How do you plan balanced meals and snacks without breaking the bank?
Step one: Understand your unique nutrition needs and the health-promoting foods that will help you meet them.
Step two: Perfect the skills and strategies for stocking a healthy kitchen, modifying favorite recipes, and basic cooking by participating in a series of interactive sessions.
The end result: You will be well on your way to a lifetime of true “value meals.”
  • Sports Nutrition (PDP NT 112): Offered Wednesday from 1:25–2:15 p.m. and 2:30-3:20 p.m.
In this course, students learn the fundamentals of nutrition and are guided through an assessment of their individual nutritional needs. Participants develop skills and strategies for fueling physical activity and sports, with an emphasis on eating to support optimal performance and recovery. Students also learn to separate nutrition fact from fiction by examining products and marketing with a critical eye. Skills and strategies for meal planning, dining out, food shopping, recipe modification and evaluation of dietary supplements are introduced through interactive sessions.
