BOSTON -- The Terrier hockey team showed some very positive signs of improvement on Friday night (November 17th), but it was not enough as it bowed to the University of New Hampshire, 2-1, in Hockey East action at a sold out Walter Brown Arena.

The loss dropped B.U.'s record to 2-5-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league, while New Hampshire is now 7-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the league.

After a scoreless first period, B.U. junior Dan Cavanaugh (Springfield) gave the Walter Brown Arena sellout crowd of 3806 a reason to cheer as he scored his second goal of the year just 41 seconds into the second period. The assist went to sophomore Mike Bussoli (Calgary, ALTA).

UNH's Eric Lind tied the game at 15:37 of the period. That set the stage for Colin Hemingway's game-winning goal at 6:25 of the third period.

In net, Terrier freshman Sean Fields (Edmonton, ALTA) had 19 saves, while the Wildcats' Matt Carney stopped 29-of-30 Terrier shots, 14 of which came in the third period.

"Too bad they don't add up the yardage. They only add up the score," said Terrier head coach Jack Parker. "I liked my team tonight. We played hard, and had a heckuva of an effort tonight."

"Our defense played better," the coach continued. "We had some good scoring chances, but we were snake bit.

"I thought Pat Aufiero (Winchester) had a heckuva game, and Chris Dyment (Reading) played better," concluded the coach. "I also liked the way Sean Fields played in goal."
