Waco, TX - The Terrier women's basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped by 12th-ranked Baylor, falling 81-56 in front of 3,754 at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas this afternoon (Dec.2).

For the Terriers, it was their first defeat since their season-opening loss to South Florida on November 17th.

B.U. was within striking distance of Baylor until early in the second half when Sheila Lambert scored eight of her team-high 19 points to build a 59-42 Baylor lead with nine minutes remaining in the game.

"They played hard and didn't back down at all," said Terrier head coach Margaret McKeon, who at 5-2 is off to her best start in her coaching career.

After trading leads in the opening minutes, Baylor scored seven unanswered points and had a 12-5 advantage at 13:33 of the first half.

Freshman forward Adrienne Norris (Eau Claire, WI) hit a high-arcing jumper from the baseline to even the score for the last time at 12-12 nine minutes into the game.

Norris was the bright spot off the bench for the Terriers, finishing the game with eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.

The Baylor bench outscored the B.U. bench, 41-12, in the game.

Despite shooting just 33.3 percent from the field in the first half, the Terriers trailed Baylor by just ten at the break, 40-30.

Sophomore guard Katie Terhune (Port Murray, NJ) scored 14 of her game-high 21 points in the first period.

Along with Lambert, Steffanie Blackmon and Danielle Crockrom both had double-figure scoring efforts for the Bears. Blackmon scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. Crockrom had 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Terriers shot just 59.3 percent from the charity stripe in the game. Terhune connected on 10-of-12 while the rest of the Terriers hit just 6-of-15 from the free throw line.

"Foul shooting really hurt us today," said McKeon. "To think if we had hit more in the first we could've gone into the locker room at the half trailing by a lot less."

The Bears had the advantage on the boards, out-rebounding the Terriers, 55-38.

As Terriers' toughest opponent of the season, Baylor remains undefeated at 7-0 with the victory.

"They believe in themselves and they believe in each other," said McKeon of her squad. "We didn't play our best game, but it's still early."

The Terriers wrap up their six-game road trip when they travel to New Haven on Wednesday to take on Yale at 7 p.m.
