BOSTON -
In the Boston University women's soccer team's regular-season finale, the squad will take on Binghamton at Nickerson Field at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Terriers enter the match with an 8-6-2 overall record and are 5-1-1 in America East Conference action, while the Bearcats are 3-10-3 overall and 2-4-1 in AE play.
The Terriers are coming off an important tie in Durham, N.H., on Thursday afternoon, which clinched home-field advantage for their first conference tournament game. BU and UNH battled through 110 minutes of scoreless action and senior Christina Reuter (Madison, Wis.) came up with eight saves, including a spectacular leaping save to her left that pushed the ball up to the cross bar and preserved the shutout.
Reuter is ranked 12th in save percentage and 39th in goals-against average, while the squad is seventh in save percentage and 18th in GAA. Leading the offense is junior midfielder Marisha Schumacher-Hodge (Pittsburgh, Pa.) with two goals and five assist for nine points, followed closely by freshman forward Stephanie Croghan (McLean, Va.) with four goals for eight points. Sophomore midfielder Emily Pallotta (Andover, Mass.) has netted two game-winning goals - three overall.
The Terriers have outscored their conference opponents 13-2 and have recorded five shutouts in seven games. BU also holds a commanding 79-53 advantage in corner kicks over its opponents.
Binghamton has picked up wins over Vermont and UMBC in conference play and earned a 1-1 tie with Stony Brook. The Bearcats have only been shutout twice in conference action and led league-leading UNH for most of the first half and deep into the second stanza until the Wildcats scored two quick goals in the 74th and 78th minutes to earn the comeback win.
Danielle White and Kim Povill lead the Bearcats with 15 points apiece, as White has tallied six goals and three assists, while Povill has recorded four goals and seven assists. In goal, Erin Iman has seen the majority of action, playing in 13 games and recording a 1.80 GAA and .730 save percentage.
Following today's game the Terriers will begin postseason action in the America East Tournament, where they are guaranteed to host at least their first tournament game. Once conference action is completed seedings and game times will be announced.
