February 12, 2007

BOSTON – Freshman Aly Hinton has earned America East Rookie of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Hinton receives her first conference accolades after averaging 21.5 points per game this past week and leading the Terriers on the offensive front. The Richboro, Pa., native also becomes the first women’s basketball rookie to garner the award this season.

Over the past two games, Hinton has averaged 21.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 2.5 apg to lead the Terriers to a 1-1 record this past week. She posted her first career double-double with a 22-point, 11-rebound performance at Vermont, while following up with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting against Stony Brook on Saturday.

Hinton has excelled in league action and she ranks second among all conference freshmen in scoring with 10.7 ppg and rebounding 6.0 rpg.

She becomes the first Boston U. player to win rookie of the week since Jesyka Burks-Wiley won the award four times last season. It is the second conference honor this season, as senior tri-captain Katie Meinhardt was named Player of the Week on Dec. 11.

The Terriers travel to Albany for a 7 p.m., tipoff on Wednesday, Feb. 14.
