Terriers, Huskies Meet in Top-10 Battle at Agganis

BOSTON - The No. 1 Boston University men's ice hockey team (6-2-0, 3-2-0 Hockey East) kicks off a six-game homestand on Sunday (Nov. 16) with a match-up against cross-town rival and seventh-ranked Northeastern (7-1-2, 5-1-1 HE). Game time is set for 7 p.m. This is the first time the two schools have met with both teams in the top 10 in over 14 years, as the Terriers and Huskies were ranked third and seventh, respectively, in the Troy (NY) Record Top-25 poll the week of a home-and-home series on Nov. 11-12, 1994.

BU is a perfect 4-0 at Agganis this season will be looking to rebound from a 5-1 setback at No. 20 UMass on Friday.

Northeastern is off to one of its best starts in program history and currently sits atop the Hockey East standings. The Huskies are coming off a 5-3 road win over Vermont on Friday and are 5-1-0 on the road so far this season.

Sophomore Tyler McNeely (5g, 4a) and freshman Alex Tuckerman (3g, 6a) each have a team-high nine points, while senior Ryan Ginand leads the squad in goals with six and junior David Strathman has earned a team-best seven assists. Junior goaltender Brad Thiessen was named Hockey East Player of the Month for October and has a 1.67 goals against average to go along with a .945 save percentage.

This will be the 199th meeting between the Terriers and Huskies since they first took to the ice together during the 1930-31 season. BU holds a 142-50-6 (.732) advantage in the series and is 8-1-2 in the last 11 meetings. The two teams have met five times at Agganis Arena and BU is 3-1-1 in those contests.

BU went 3-0-1 against Northeastern last season, as the teams battled to a 2-2 draw at Matthews Arena on Nov. 10 before the Terriers reeled off three straight wins, beginning with a 5-4 decision in the Beanpot consolation game. Most recently, the teams met in a home-and-home series on Feb. 22-23 that BU swept by scores of 7-4 and 3-2.

The Terriers had a three-game win streak snapped on Friday at the hands of the Minutemen, who got a 30-save performance from sophomore netminder Paul Dainton. BU's lone goal of the night came from the stick of junior Zach Cohen.
