BOSTON - Featuring seven teams that competed in the 2009 postseason, the Boston University women's basketball team's 2009-10 complete schedule has been released, head coach Kelly Greenberg announced on Friday afternoon. Following a 12-game non-conference slate that includes the country's first women's college basketball game of the season at Kentucky, the Terriers will open their America East schedule on Jan. 5 at Maine. In 2008-09, the league featured three squads in the postseason for the first time since 1999.

The Terriers, who won a school-record 25 games in 2008-09, will welcome NCAA participant Marist (Dec. 12), as well as Rhode Island (Nov. 18) and Northeastern (Nov. 24) to Case Gym during their non-conference play. The home opener with URI will be broadcast live on NESN at The Roof, where BU has won 23 of the last 24 games played.

Continuing with its non-conference schedule, BU will hit the road to face four teams that competed in the 2009 Women's National Invitation Tournament - Kentucky (Nov. 13), St. John's (Nov. 21), Harvard (Dec. 6) and Boston College (Jan. 3).

When BU takes on Kentucky, which is coming off a school record fifth-straight postseason appearance, the match-up will be the first women's basketball college game of the 2009-10 season with tip-off scheduled for 11 a.m. EST. Senior Maggie McKemie will enjoy a trip back to her home state during that time as well. The rivalry with St. John's continues for the fourth straight season, after a year in which the Red Storm advanced to the third round of the WNIT for the second time in school history last season. Harvard finished second in the Ivy League and was a WNIT first round participant, while the Terriers will be looking to avenge a season-ending loss in the WNIT second round to the Eagles, who were one game shy of the 2009 WNIT finals.

Following its contest in Lexington, Ky., BU will make a quick turnaround and travel to Massachusetts for a game two days later against UMass on Nov. 15. After squaring off with St. John's on Nov. 21, BU will return to the confines of Case Gym on Nov. 24 to take on perennial foe Northeastern in a rivalry that recently has proven to be a high-scoring affair, as two of the last three 90-plus point games for the Terriers have been against the Huskies.

BU will continue with its regional rivals as it heads to Brown on Dec. 2 to take on the Bears in the first of three straight contests against Ivy League opponents. On Dec. 6, BU will then face Harvard and will close out its Ivy tour on Dec. 9, with a visit to Yale.

BU returns to The Roof on Dec. 12 to host Marist. It will be the second year in a row the two squads have matched up. The Red Foxes were a No. 12 seed in the NCAA tournament last year after claiming a 29-3 record and their sixth straight MAAC regular-season title.

Following a 14-day break, BU will return to the floor when it heads to Saint Joseph's for the 20th annual Hawk Classic, which also will feature Brown and South Carolina of the SEC. The tournament in Philadelphia is another highlight for the Terriers as senior Aly Hinton, a native of Richboro, Pa., play in front of a hometown crowd.

In January, BU will begin its quest to return to the America East championship game for the seventh time in eight years when it travels to Maine on Jan. 5. In 2008-09, three different teams advanced to the postseason for the first time in 10 years as Hartford and BU were WNIT participants and America East champion Vermont drew Connecticut in the NCAA first round.

The Terriers welcome Albany (Jan. 16), Vermont (Jan. 18), Hartford (Jan. 21), UMBC (Jan. 24), Maine (Jan. 30), Binghamton (Feb. 3) and New Hampshire (Feb. 28) to Case Gym and will play Stony Brook at Agganis Arena on Feb. 17 as part of a doubleheader with the BU men's basketball team.

The 2010 America East Championship will return to Hartford's Chase Arena at the Reich Family Pavilion. It will mark the eighth time in the last nine years that the Hawks have hosted the event but the first time the women's championship will be combined with the men's. Action will tip off on March 4 with semifinal play continuing through March 7. The highest seeds remaining in both the men's and women's tournament will host the championship games with the men's title game on Saturday, March 13 and the women's final on Sunday, March 14.

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans can first see the team in action at The Roof on Friday, Oct. 23 for the annual Terrier Tip-off, a season-opening event featuring both basketball teams.

Greenberg, who is the first BU women's basketball coach to win 20 games in consecutive seasons, returns seven letter winners from last year's squad and welcomes six new faces to the program. This year's squad will be return one starter in Aly Hinton and will feature a talented crop of underclassmen.

BU's 2008-09 season was a historic one as it won a school-record 25 games and went undefeated in the America East Conference. BU appeared in its first postseason game in six years and won the program's first-ever postseason game - a 79-60 victory over Central Connecticut in the WNIT first round. That squad featured the winningest class in program history, as the 2009 seniors won 78 career games and owned a .624 winning percentage.
