WAKEFIELD, Mass. -
After helping the top-ranked Boston University men's ice hockey team claim the Beanpot title and earn three points in a weekend series at Maine, sophomore forward Colin Wilson was named the Reebok Hockey East Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. Wilson tallied a game-high three points in the Beanpot final and recorded his first career hat trick in a win over the Black Bears.
In Monday's 5-2 victory over then-No. 2/3 Northeastern in the Beanpot championship, Wilson registered a shorthanded goal and two assists. He followed that up with arguably the best performance of his career on Friday, scoring three goals on just three shots and adding an assist in a 7-2 road triumph against Maine. Wilson also had a plus-4 rating on the week.
The Hobey Baker candidate, who was also named Division I Co-Player of the Week by Inside Hockey, now has a league-best 40 points (13g, 27a) on the season and he ranks second in the country in points per game (1.43).
This is the second time that Wilson has earned Player of the Week accolades from the league this season, as he was honored on Nov. 10 following a two-goal, two-assist effort in a win over UMass Lowell.
