Head of the Charles Website | Watch | Row2k Coverage
BOSTON - Using the DeWolfe Boathouse as the starting point, the Boston University men's and women's rowing programs will compete this weekend at the 46th annual Head of the Charles Regatta. Former and current BU rowers along with coaches will be competing during the two-day event.
Over 8,000 competitors from around the world will be competing in 55 events, and up to 300,000 spectators will be in attendance to watch the races.
Last year, the Terrier women made history in the championship fours race. Coxed by senior Alex Thornton, the BU boat posted the best collegiate time to earn the program's first-ever medal.
On the men's side, nine freshmen took third in the Club Eights. Also, head coach and U.S. Rowing Hall of Fame member Thomas Bohrer defended his Master Singles (40+) title with BU boatman Russ Cone placing second. The two men along with assistant coach John Lindberg will be racing on Saturday morning.
During the weekend, both teams will be hosting an open house for prospects and families. Click here for more information on the men and here for the women.
