Senior Meindert Klem was named the most valuable player for the 2010 Boston University men's crew after stroking the varsity eight boat to a Bill Cup victory over Dartmouth along with a fourth-place finish at the San Diego Crew Classic before ending the season with a Petite Final win at the IRAs.
During the National Championship regatta, BU started with a repechage victory over Cornell to get in position for the boat's second consecutive Grand Final berth. However, they missed out by 0.02 seconds.
The Terriers overcame the heartbreak under captains Klem and Rich McGovern on the third day to capture the Petite Final over Dartmouth, Northeastern, Columbia, Yale and Princeton.
Klem left the program as one of the most accomplished rowers ever, having participated in the 2008 Summer Olympics and also captured the bronze at the 2010 World Championships for the Netherlands.
