BU VS. UMBC: The history between the two schools is young with BU leading the all-time series, 12-5; however its six-game winning streak against the Retrievers came to an end last season with a 65-63 loss, and BU dropped a 58-57 heartbreak down in Baltimore, Md., a month later. In the AE tourney, however, the Terriers avenged the regular season losses with a 60-49 victory in the quarterfinals.
The first meeting between BU and UMBC was a 76-64 BU victory on Dec. 27, 1991. However, the teams did not meet again until the Retrievers joined the America East Conference in 2003-04. The Terriers won the first two league contests by 72-53 and 59-40 margins, respectively, before UMBC picked up its first win of the series, a 59-51 decision on Jan. 12, 2005. In back-to-back years (2007-08, 2008-09), BU swept the season series, which included an 88-59 victory in the 2008 America East quarterfinals and a 73-65 victory over UMBC on March 4, 2009 to claim the AE regular-season title outright.
LAST TIME OUT VS. UMBC (March 5, 2010): Backed by Chantell Alford's first career double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and a 23-point showing from Alex Young, the third-seeded women's basketball team defeated No. 6 UMBC, 60-49, in the quarterfinals at the 2010 America East Women's Basketball Championships to advance to the semifinals to face No. 2 Vermont on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Caroline Stewart hauled down a career-best and game-high 15 boards, while BU held a 43-35 advantage in rebounding.

In 2007-08, BU was 11-0 overall and 8-0 in America East action, and the Terriers' only home loss came at Agganis Arena on Nov. 17, 2007 to then-No. 16 Ohio State.
