First-Half Highlights
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Due to inclement weather, the field hockey game between No. 15 Boston University and No. 8 New Hampshire has been postponed. The game is rescheduled for Monday at 4 p.m. at Newton Campus Field.
The Terriers trailed UNH, 2-1, at halftime. The teams took the field to begin the second half, but lightning and heavy rain forced the teams to their respective locker rooms, and eventually the game was postponed before the second stanza could begin. The game will resume at that point, with 35 minutes remaining in regulation.
On Senior Night for BU at Jordan Field, the two teams played an exciting first half. Hayley Rausch got the Wildcats on the board first when, after freshman goalkeeper Valentina Cerda (two saves) saved Rausch's initial shot, Rausch got the rebound and put it into the back of the cage. It was her 20th goal of the season.
UNH made it 2-0 when Whitney Frates deflected a long pass past Cerda. It was the 15th goal of the season for Frates.
BU cut the deficit in half on a beautiful deflection. Sophomore Amira Downes sent the ball towards the circle, and junior Tabi Hatch redirected the waist-high ball past Katherine Nagengast (three saves) to make it a 2-1 game. It was the fifth goal of the season for Hatch, while Downes earned her first assist of the season.
