The Boston University field hockey team will kick off this year's Turnpike Trophy schedule on Friday (Sept. 26) when it visits Holy Cross for a Patriot League contest. On Sunday (Sept. 28), BU will host regional rival New Hampshire. All three teams enter the weekend with a record of 3-4.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU posted a 3-0 victory over Bryant on Sunday to end a four-game homestand during which it went 3-1.Â
- Senior Caroline O'Brien, who scored all three goals against the Bulldogs, has had a hand in BU's past nine goals with five goals and four assists during the stretch.
- O'Brien has a team-best 14 points, just four points off her career high of 18 set her sophomore year.
- Freshman Molly Driscoll and junior Nicole Lauro have scored two goals apiece this season.
- Senior Martu Coulo and Lauro both earned spots on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team.
- Junior Sophie Ortyl has started the past five games in goal and has a 3-2 record to go along with a .789 save percentage and 1.60 goals-against average this season.
- Seniors Maddie Hudson and Celia Nocivelli are serving as co-captains this year.
- Sally Starr is in her 45th season as head coach of the Terriers.Â
SCOUTING THE CRUSADERS
- Like BU, Holy Cross is coming off a win against Bryant as the Crusaders earned a 2-1 road victory thanks to junior Saskia Williams' 59th-minute winner.  Â
- Holy Cross has also earned wins this season against Stonehill and Merrimack.
- Junior Maguire Sturgis, who was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, currently leads the Crusaders in points (14), goals (5) and assists (4).
- Sophomore Kendall Brady has added four goals.
- Sophomore Mia McCloskey has started all seven games this season and she has a 2.22 goals-against average and a .754 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY VS. HOLY CROSS
- BU is 28-2-1 all-time against Holy Cross, including wins in the past 28Â meetings.
- Last season, the Terriers posted a 3-2 home win over the Crusaders in Sally Starr's 500th victory at BU.
- Natalie Epperson scored twice in the win and Nicole Lauro scored the game winner.
- BU is 14-1 in road contests against Holy Cross.Â
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
- UNH recorded a 3-2 overtime win at home over Dartmouth on Tuesday to improve to 3-4.
- The Wildcats also have wins against Providence and Northeastern this season.
- Junior Kathelijne Knuttel has team highs in points (16) and goals (6) while sharing the team lead in assists at four with senior Nicole Poulakis, who has four goals, and senior All-American Tasmin Cookman. Â
- Freshman Marlijn Swaan has made an early impact with three goals.Â
- Sophomore Abby Johnson has started all seven games this season and currently has a .686 save percentage and a 3.12 goals-against average.
SERIES HISTORY VS. UNH
- Sunday will mark the 50th meeting all-time between the two programs with the previous 37 featuring the current head coaches.
- The Terriers are 26-20-3 all-time against the Wildcats.Â
- BU has won seven of its past nine games against UNH and the teams have traded wins back and forth over the past four seasons.
- Last season in Durham, the Wildcats earned a 3-0 victory.
