After recording two goals, including the overtime winner on Saturday, and three assists to help the Terriers earn three points in their weekend home-and-home series with Massachusetts, sophomore forward Matt Nieto has been named the GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
Nieto helped the Terriers complete a comeback from a 3-0 deficit on Saturday by assisting on the game-tying and go-ahead goals before capping the 5-4 overtime victory by scoring a goal for the eighth straight game, dating back to last year. With BU down 2-0 in Amherst on Friday, Nieto scored the team's first goal before assisting on classmate Sahir Gill's game-tying goal.
Nieto's eight-game goal-scoring streak is the longest by a Terrier since Chris Drury found the back of the net in nine consecutive games from Nov. 1-26, 1996.
Through six games, Nieto leads the Terriers in both points (10) and goals (6).
