CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -
After saving all 10 shots she faced against No. 5 Syracuse to jump to the top of the national rankings in save percentage, freshman goalkeeper Valentina Cerda of the No. 17 Boston University field hockey team has been named the America East Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
Cerda played the final 30:49 on Sunday against the Orange and did not allow a goal while recording 10 saves to keep the Terriers in the contest. The comeback effort fell short in an eventual 3-2 loss.
Thanks to her performance, Cerda now boasts a nation-best .844 save percentage this season and her 1.09 goals-against average is good for seventh in the country.
This is Cerda's second conference honor this season after being named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 12.
