Senior goaltender Kieran Millan of the Boston University men's ice hockey team has been named the Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday.

Millan, who earned the weekly accolade for the third time this season, made 42 saves in the Terriers' 4-2 victory over then-No. 7/6 Merrimack on Friday at Agganis Arena.

BU took a 4-2 lead into the third period and Millan made sure the Warriors would get no closer, as he stopped all 20 shots he faced in the final stanza.

Millan's efforts helped the Terriers move into a tie for first place in the Hockey East standings. BU is now ranked a season-best sixth in both national polls.

The Terriers will return to action on Friday (Jan. 13) when they head over to Northeastern to face the Huskies in a contest that will televised by NESN. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
