After leading the America East with 19.5 points per game last week, senior Chantell Alford of the women's basketball team has been named GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.
Alford led the Terriers to a pair of wins last week including a 66-49 victory over No. 17/15 St. John's on Saturday, which was the highest ranked opponent BU has defeated in program history. BU also posted a 54-29 victory at Rhode Island on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
The West Haven, Conn., native averaged a conference-best 19.5 ppg as well as 4.5 rpg in BU's two games. Alford shot 56.0 percent from the field (14-of-25) and converted 80.0 percent (8-of-10) of her shots form beyond the arc. She scored 17 points at Rhode Island before matching her career best with six made 3-pointers en route to scoring 22 points against No. 17/15 St. John's.
Alford leads BU with 19.4 ppg and is shooting 47.1 percent from the floor and 47.5 percent from the 3-point line. The two-time defending America East Player of the Year was also honored as America East Player of the Week on Monday for the third time this season.
