After reaching the Grand Final at the IRA National Championship Regatta for the first time since 2009 and third time overall in the past decade, the Boston University men's rowing team's varsity eight boat has been named GoTerriers.com Student-Athlete of the Week.

Coxed by senior Bobby McGee and stroked by junior Matthew Given, the V8 boat started off the three-day event in impressive fashion with a 1.8 second victory over No. 4 California to avoid the repechage and advance directly to the semifinals.

For the first time since 2005, the Terriers took second in the semifinals on Friday to reach the Grand Finals. BU stunned the Golden Bears yet again by six seconds and No. 5 Wisconsin by 11 seconds to avenge an earlier Jablonic Cup defeat.

The boat would finish sixth in the Grand Final on Saturday, helping BU finish seventh place overall in the team standings with 122 points, 23 more than the previous year.

Members of the boat included McGee, Given, junior Kosta Gioulekas, sophomore Kyle Peabody, senior Andrew Reswow, junior David Fette, junior Marko Bezbradica, sophomore Lenny Futterman and sophomore Moritz Franz.
