The Boston University men's ice hockey team hosts future Hockey East member Connecticut on Sunday (Nov. 17) in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. Game time at Agganis Arena is set for 5 p.m.
Both teams are looking to rebound from shutout losses on Friday. The Terriers dropped a 7-0 contest at Maine and the Huskies fell at home to Bentley by a score of 3-0. After winning three of its first four games this season, BU has dropped five of its last six.
UConn had a three-game win streak snapped on Friday in its loss to Bentley, which closed out a season-opening five-game homestand. The Huskies' wins have come against Army, Sacred Heart and Holy Cross. Sunday's game is the first in a stretch of four straight road games for the Huskies.
UConn is the least penalized team in the country, averaging just 5.7 penalty minutes per game.
Seniors Billy Latta (4g, 2a) and Jordan Sims (2g, 4a) share the team lead in points with six each. Junior Trevor Girling has added five points on two goals and three assists.
Senior Matt Grogan has started six games in goals and boasts a 2.98 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage
Former Boston College assistant Mike Cavanaugh is in his first season as head coach of the Huskies. On his staff is former BU captain Joe Pereira. Pereira was a sophomore on BU's 2009 national championship team and finished his career with 61 points (27g, 34a) in 139 games played.
