AMHERST, Mass. - The Boston University women's basketball had three players score in double-digits to defeat Massachusetts, 66-63, on Wednesday night at the Mullins Center. The Terriers improve to 3-6 on the season while UMass drops to 2-7.

Senior Rashidat Agboola led BU with 21 points and added eight rebounds while classmate Whitney Turner led the Terriers on the boards with 13 rebounds. Fellow senior Danielle Callahan added 16 points while junior Mollie McKendrick chipped in 10 points.

Kim Pierre-Louis led the Minutewomen with 15 points while Emily Mital added 11. Rashida Timbilla (12) and Kiara Bomben (10) both reached double-digits in rebounds for UMass.

In a game that featured eight ties and 10 lead changes, the teams were whistled for a combined 58 fouls (29 each). The Terriers went 23-of-43 from the line (53.5 percent) while UMass fared slightly better by converting 24-of-43 attempts (55.8 percent).

BU shot 32.2 percent (20-of-62) from the field and went just 3-of-19 from the 3-point line. UMass shot 29.5 percent for the game (18-of-61) and went 3-of-17 from beyond the arc. The Minutewomen posted a 56-41 advantage on the boards. The Terriers committed a season-low three turnovers while the Minutewomen recorded 13 miscues.

The Terriers took a 36-34 lead into halftime following a first period that featured a combined 28 fouls called and 45 free throw attempts. UMass took its only lead of the first half with 16:47 on the clock, forcing a BU timeout. From there, the Terriers held the advantage for the remainder of the opening stanza.

Agboola opened the second half with a 4-0 spurt but the Minutewomen responded with a 7-0 run to take their first lead, 41-40, since early in the game. The teams traded baskets heading into the under 16 media timeout and were knotted at 45-45 with 11:52 to play.

UMass took the lead again following a 3-pointer from Mital before the Terriers evened the game at 53-53 with a jumper from McKendrick with 7:20 to play. The game remained a one-possession affair and was tied for the eighth time at 61-61 following a free throw from Callahan with 3:14 remaining. Turner gave the lead back to BU by hitting 1-of-2 attempts from the line.

Mital converted on a layup with 1:37 on the clock to give the slim 64-63 edge to UMass. A layup from Agboola put BU back on top, 66-63, and Turner came up with a key rebound on the Minutewomen's next possession to seal the 66-63 victory.

The Terriers will take a week off before playing their sixth straight road game on Wednesday (Dec. 11) at Boston College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
